Where outcomes are required for service users, all our services with the edition of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are available using the same six session structure as assisted activities. The service user is normally referred by a professional or has an EHCP. All potential new starters will have an assessment before starting their programme. The assessment will be the tool to fully assess their needs and requirements and to determine whether our programmes and the site location are both suitable and beneficial to their needs.
The structure of sessions incorporates an agreed pre-determined set of aims and goals, often working closely with the professional to ensure that the outcomes are both achievable and beneficial to the progress of the service user. These may cover a wide spectrum of improvements including physical, educational. mental health and motivational, which in turn supports general well-being, self-esteem and the overall confidence of the service user.
The service covers all our main activity services including animals (animal assisted therapy), equine (equine assisted therapy), relaxation therapy, eco-therapy and CBT. These programmes are designed to provide outcome driven results specific to the aims and goals of each individual service users needs.
The trained therapist will provide 1 to 1 sessions with the service user ensuring that the programmes are followed and adjusted accordingly, working closely with the professional, culminating in the necessary reports agreed at assessment.
This service differs from the other outcome therapy services being more of a collaborative project between the therapist and the service user. Elements of the other services are used depending on the programme, but ultimately the emphasis is a focus to help change the service users thoughts, emotions and behaviours. This is done through helping the service user to look at how they think about events and situations and the way they act towards them and the resulting impacts of their behaviour.
The site at Poets Corner has many therapeutic areas, facilities and features ideal for the service user throughout their sessions. Within the 6.5 acres, the site has sensory gardens and wildflower gardens, woodlands, stream, open activity areas, animal enclosures, reptile centre, grazing land and equine facilities including stables, grooming area and exercise round pen. With such a wide choice of individual therapeutic settings on the site, the options are all encompassing.
